This is the second painting Laura made from the same spot in Pingvellir, Iceland. The river in the painting, “Up Down River” is only a 90 degrees to the left difference in view from this waterfall. If you have ever been there you might remember. The loud noise from the crashing water had a calming and mesmerising effect.
This larger work is one of two among Laura’s Iceland travel inspired paintings.

Shattered

This painting features both water and ice from a boat trip in Svalbård, Norway. A trip to the arctic circle was made by Laura’s sister in law in 2016. Many photos from the trip gave Laura inspiration to make three paintings so far. It is important to Laura that the textures on the very still waters accentuate the contrast in texture of the floating shattered sea ice.
